Features Of Filiform Warts

Filiform warts are also referred to as digitate warts. They are common warts that are normally found in areas o the body where the skin is thin. These body parts include; the eyes, chin, lips, and nose. They are characterized with a visible base and a finger-like structure because they can grow very long. The individual projections of the digitate warts make them easily identifiable.  Just like many other forms of warts, the filiform warts are also caused by the HPV virus which enters through the surface of an injured or traumatized skin surface.

Though not everyone who has the HPV virus on his or her skin will develop the filiform warts infection, it all depends largely on how the individual’s immune system can react and fight the infection. Though the infection does not spread from n individual to the other but clothes and other materials belonging to the infected must be avoided. The protrusion of filiform warts often result in bleeding on the affected skin part. This problem is quite common among men who shave their skin constantly. The cutting of the warts during shaving will result in bleeding.

Some mild forms of itching and redness can accompany filiform wart developments on the skin. When the surrounding tissues of the wart infected skin area are repeatedly rubbed, the warts may spread to such surrounding regions. Though filiform wart infections may disappear few months without treatment but it is believed that personal hygiene is very important to keep them away. Aside this people with great immune system may not get the infection.

Though a robust immune system may prevent digitate warts from infecting the body , but it has not been established if such people can avoid the infection for a long time especially when their body hygiene is very poor, hence the real way to avoid this infection is to engage in good oral hygiene.

Digitate warts infections can be dealt with using over-the-counter medications{ only those prescribed by the dermatologist}. Over the counter medications often prescribed include ointments and topical medications.
